Your Golf Car to Battle the Social Distancing
A couple of months ago, we didn’t use words like “COVID-19” and “social distancing.” We were planning spring and summer events and BBQs, graduations and vacations. In a few short weeks, everything has changed. COVID-19 affects us each in different ways, but it affects each of us nonetheless.
Although lock down orders and social distancing parameters are being set across the country, there are still many ways to get outside and enjoy ourselves. Our daily routines have been disrupted but don’t allow it to steal your joy. In many ways, our lives have been slowed down a bit and we can benefit from that.
Here are a few ways to battle the social distancing blues:
Take a Cruise in Your Golf Car
Breathing fresh air and enjoying the beauty nature has to offer is a great way to keep life in perspective and clear your mind. Explore a new trail or take a quick drive around the neighborhood. Taking a few deep breaths of the fresh air after being trapped indoors feels so good. If you live in a cooler climate, use your golf car enclosure while you are driving but make sure to stop and breathe in the fresh air.
Plan a Family Picnic
Although we are distancing ourselves from others, that doesn’t include those living in our home. Reconnect with the people with whom you live and plan a family picnic. Pack up your golf car with some sandwiches and drinks and head to a secluded area. Private beaches, open grassy areas, or nature preserves are a few places to consider. As long as your picnic only includes the people who live in your home, no one is at risk.
Drive a Bucket of Golf Balls
Nothing battles frustration like driving a bucket of golf balls. Load up your clubs on your golf car and either head to the nearest outdoor range (if it is open) or find an open field. Get your body moving and transfer your COVID-19 stress to the golf ball. Don’t forget to pack a cooler with your favorite drinks.
Perform Some Extra Maintenance
Have you been putting off installing those new golf car wheels and tires? Maybe your batteries could use some TLC. Now is a great time to wash and wax your golf car in anticipation of the beautiful weather on the horizon. Use this time at home to take care of your golf car so it will take care of you for years to come.
Help Those in Need
Do you have neighbors who are immunocompromised and unable to leave their homes at all? Use your golf car to make your rounds to offer assistance to those in need right now. Drop off some food or other essentials. Check on those who are living alone, if only to give a wave and quick “hello” from your golf car. Social isolation can be detrimental to mental health for those who live alone. Now is the time to look out for each other.
As our lives change throughout this crisis, hold on tight to the parts of your life that remain the same. Stay safe and healthy.
